Typical Heat Exchanger Testing Findings:
(1) Corrosion
(2) Fouling
(3) Cracking
(4) Wall Thinning
(5) Leaks
(6) Tube Deformation
(7) Tube-to-Tube Sheet Leakage
(8) Clogged Tubes
(9) Structural Damage
(10) Differential Pressure Changes
(11) Thermal Performance Issues
Eddy Current Testing (ECT)
This technique inspects non-ferromagnetic tubing for surface flaws like cracks and voids. ECT works by generating a magnetic field through an alternating electric current. Irregularities in the material cause variations in the electrical conductivity readings, indicating the presence of defects.
Remote Field Testing (RFT)
RFT is used for inspecting materials and structures from a distance, especially in challenging or hazardous environments. Pegasus utilise advanced technology to provide real-time data, enhancing safety and efficiency by reducing the need for on-site personnel. It is effective for components in hard-to-reach areas or when immediate feedback is necessary.
Internal rotary inspection system (IRIS)
Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS) is a cutting-edge ultrasonic technology specifically developed for assessing heat exchanger and fin fan cooler tubes. It excels in identifying degradation such as localized corrosion, erosion, fretting, and gradual wall thinning due to service-induced conditions.
Pegasus’s IRIS technology offers comprehensive inspection capabilities for both ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic tubes. It is engineered to provide precise and reliable results, effectively mitigating interference from external elements like fins or baffles, which often affect conventional inspection methods.
